The Reel Thing is owned and operated by Joe Cox, who has a great deal of experience with rods and reels of all sorts.  We service reels from the most popular manufacturers such as Diawa, Penn, Okuma, and Shimano, and also the less well known reel makers.  We also repair broken fishing rods, whether it's a broken tip, reel seat, guide or gimbal. Additionally, we handcraft custom rods using only the finest materials.  Our rods are found on recreational and charter boats from one end of the Chesapeake Bay to offshore on the "Big Pond".  From light spinning rods to stand-up tuna sticks, we build them with quality and durability in mind.  So browse around our website and take a look at our services, custom rods, photos of our work, etc. We're located in Prince Frederick (MD) not far from the Patuxent River, a source of inspiration for fishermen of all ages and those of us in the tackle business.
